Join the DSPAT Family
Tennessee recently started a serious effort to organize a non-profit statewide employees association for direct support professionals. We have already enjoyed attendance from several of our support agencies near the Middle Tennessee area and look forward to more outreach to the eastern and western regions.
One of our practical goals is to help us all have a more unified voice for better communications. Most of us work independently of coworkers and without direct supervision, which can create a need for improved staff supports and a stronger communication base.
We are receiving strong guidance from our border state of Missouri, who has been in operation for several years. The National Alliance of Direct Support Professionals has adopted us as a state affiliate. This national affiliation will help us greatly in bringing Tennessee the best possible credential training to upgrade us as professionals and improve our career opportunities.
